This Privacy Policy explains how Maylo ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information through our Chrome Extension (the "Extension"). We are committed to protecting your personal data and your privacy.

To provide the core functionality of the Extension (text-to-speech) and manage your paid subscription, we collect the following:

• Account Identifiers: Name and email address.
• Browsing Content: The specific text of the web pages you request to be read aloud and the URL of those pages.
• User Preferences: Your chosen voice, language, and playback speed settings, saved on a per-domain basis.
• Subscription & Payment Data: When you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment information (credit card details, billing address). We do not store or have access to your full credit card number; we only receive confirmation of payment and a unique customer ID.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data strictly for the following purposes:

• Service Delivery: To convert your requested text into audio.
• Personalization: To remember your voice and language preferences for specific websites so you don't have to reset them.
• Subscription Management: To verify your paid status via Stripe and provide access to premium features.
• Customer Support: To communicate with you regarding account issues or technical support.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Payment Processing (Stripe): We share your email and name with Stripe to facilitate secure transactions. Their use of your data is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
• Audio Synthesis: Your requested text is transmitted via encrypted connection to third-party TTS providers (e.g., Azure, DeepInfra) for the sole purpose of generating audio. This text is processed and generally not stored by the provider.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or to protect our rights.

4. Data Retention

• Transient Data: Text content and URLs processed for audio are not permanently stored on our servers and are deleted after the audio session is complete.
• Account & Preference Data: We retain your email, name, and domain preferences as long as you use the Extension.
• Financial Records: We (and Stripe) may retain transaction records (e.g., invoices) for the period required by tax and accounting laws (typically 7 years).

5. Security

We take the security of your data seriously.

All data transmitted between the Extension and our servers or third-party providers is encrypted via SSL/TLS (HTTPS).

We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information from unauthorized access.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Access & Deletion: You may request to see the data we have on file or request its deletion by contacting us.

Preference Management: You can clear your saved per-domain voice settings at any time through the Extension's settings menu.

Subscription Cancellation: You can manage or cancel your subscription through our Stripe-hosted billing portal.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page or via an in-extension notification.
